No Ordinary Sundays
There is no such thing as an ordinary Sunday. No such thing as an ordinary gathering of God’s people.God is calling us together and turning our eyes away from the lesser joys of this world to the greatest joy in Jesus. Displaying his glory and grace by the power of the Holy Spirit through his Word and his people, so that we can be built up into the glorious image of Christ! With every preaching and reading of God’s word, every truth sung, every blessed communion, every confession of need, every dead heart made alive, every heart turned to Jesus, every testimony in baptism, every humbling of self, every prophetic word encouraging the body, every idol crushed, and every prayer for healing, God is actively working and singing over his people.
Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-26
In his love for us, Jesus prayed in John 17 that we would be one just as he and the Father are one. When the Spirit-empowered Church gathers, we get to witness and participate in our loving Father answering the prayers of his beloved Son, as God unites us together as a one body under the rule and reign of our King Jesus, who even now is alive and sits on his throne interceding for us.As the psalmist says, may we not forget all the benefits of Christ and his Kingdom. There is no such thing as an ordinary Sunday. No such thing as an ordinary gathering of God’s people. No such thing.
